ARTIST’S TIP

If you don’t enjoy making your own chain, consider using pieces of existing chain from vintage jewelry. It can be fun mixing it up a bit by using combinations of several chains together in one finished piece.

DELICATE

MY MUSICAL MOSAIC

Joselyn Walsh

I am entranced by glittery things and color. To me, beads are like candy, and I can’t get enough! When I was twenty-five I became inspired by jewelry-making and started my own little jewelry business. I lived near New Orleans and started collecting Mardi Gras beads to incorporate into my jewelry pieces. My passion for collecting anything “jewel-like” led to what I call the “Fantastic Mosaic” technique.

The adventure starts with collecting—all kinds of things—beads, shells, old jewelry; just use your imagination. Objects that have one flat side are preferable. Save bottle caps, charms and shells; you might try filling their hollows with glitter glue and putting beads into the glue.
